Spring in Hokkaido is from April to June.
Daytime temperatures are around 10 degrees Celsius. Morning and evening temperatures will still be cold, below 5 degrees Celsius.
You will need a coat or jumper as it is still cold. The distance to be traveled is long,

National Takino Suzuran Hillside Park (Sapporo)

This is the National Takino Suzuran Hillside Park in Sapporo.
The 400 hectares of land are covered with colorful flower gardens.
There are three waterfalls and a forest where you can walk around and enjoy the great nature.
The tulips are very beautiful.
It is available throughout the year and is a great place to enjoy skiing in the winter.

Hill of Biei

The hills of Biei are located about 12 minutes by car from Asahikawa Airport.
The hillsides are beautifully landscaped with seasonal flower gardens and rice paddies.
Take the time to drive or rent a bicycle to get around.
Lavender and other sunflowers fill the area in summer.

Biei-cho Aoi Ike and Blue River

This is a pond near Shirogane Onsen in Biei-cho with a beautiful cobalt blue color.
And there is the Blue River in the upper reaches of the Biei River.
The best time to see them is usually from May to June, but they can also be seen after July.
There are many spa facilities around.

Asahiyama Zoo

Asahiyama Zoo is located in Asahikawa City.
You can see the animals in their natural habitat.
Orangutans walk in the air, the zoo at night, and penguin walks in winter throughout the year.
It is designed to allow visitors to see the ecology of various animals.

Blue Cave (Otaru)

The Blue Cave is a naturally formed cave in the Niseko Shakotan Otaru Kaigan National Park.
The natural light effects make the surface of the sea shine and appear blue. It takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes by car from Hakodate Station.
Great if the weather is nice! You can get there from Otaru Port by cruise ship or other means.

World Heritage (cultural, natural, etc.) the Five Lakes of Shiretoko

These five lakes are beautiful and rich in nature, with the Shiretoko mountain range, a World Heritage site, in the background.
Surrounded by virgin forest, the lake in the wilderness is very mysterious and numerous plants and animals can be seen. From the observatory, a panoramic view of the lake and the Shiretoko mountain range can be seen.
